Too Many Things and Definitely Not Enough Time

Hey guys.

Um... sorry I wasn't 'here' on Wednesday.  It's not that I forgot about you, I promise!

Honestly, I thought the summer would make things easier.  And in a way it has.  It's allowed me more time to edit, write, read, skate, paint, play my violin... everything I love to do.

But by doing all these other things, I've realized that I actually have a lot less time now!!  Let's see... I have to beta read a book, give feedback on a first chapter, critique a few chapters, make a few last changes to From the Ashes, catch up on reading all of your blogs, make a list of other things to post about... * sighs *

The list goes on and on... like the energizer bunny.  Except I'm not feeling quite so energetic about it all.  Just thinking about it is making me exhausted!

Wednesday was sorta the epitome of my brain overload.  We weren't home for five hours because of skating/my violin lesson (both take up a lot of time, lol).

I have 20 unread emails, way too many facebook notifications and a whole bunch more from twitter.  I'm honestly dreading going through them all.

Oh well.  I gotta do it all sometime!  Might as well start now...

So yeah, I didn't forget about anything!!  I've just been so busy.

Luckily, thanks to my best friend Kate, ideas for book 2 and 3 have been coming to me like magic.  So at least in the writing world, things have been moving rather smoothly.

Don't let the procrastination bug bite you this weekend!

Happy Friday :)

Haha, I totally agree with you! This summer, I expected to get SO many things done, and now that summer's here, I have this attitude: "Oh well, there's still 2 months left, so I can just wait until the last minute!" I've already been bitten by the procrastination bug, apparently!

Sounds like you have a busy but productive summer ahead of you - they are the best kinds! :) But make sure you make some time to just swing on the hammock with a lemonade, too. Good luck with your projects!

You sure do have a lot on your plate! Something is always going to get lost in the shuffle, especially nowadays with the internet taking over our lives. I wrote about this exact conundrum on my blog recently. To save time, I'll just cope the pertinent stuff here:

"The internet was supposed to make our lives easier and our everyday tasks much faster to accomplish, but it ends up having the opposite effect. There's just so many things to do--and I only stick to a handful of websites. Unfortunately one of my quirks is 'clearing the slate'; I feel like I have to check everything else first, make sure everything is settled before I can start writing. If someone e-mailed me or read my blog or posted on their blog that will gnaw at my brain, rendering it useless until I reply. By then I have about ten minutes to write before the family needs me or I'm ready to crash and sleep."

Don't let that happen to you. Focus on your projects first and do the rest when you can. You might seem overwhelmed now, but you've accomplished more at your age than most. Keep going, because finding time to write, skate, and dream will only get harder as you get older.

I was going to research what causes people to procrastinate but I will have to do it next week. :)

Perhaps you should take an Internet vacation for a week or two. Then come back to the blog et al refreshed and ready to tackle the things that have piled up.

Decide what's REALLY important to you. You are in control of how you spend your time. Every single person on Earth is given 24 hours each day. Spend it wisely. Love, Grandma

Glad to hear that your writing ideas are coming along at the very least, even if the rest of life is overflowing a bit. Hope you can find time to rest!
