Genre Favorites Blogfest and KOMF #7 Winners!

Okay, I wasn't going to participate in this, but... I decided to anyway :)

The rules are:

List your favorite genre of:
Movie
Music
Book
And guilty pleasure genre from any of the three categories!

Favorite Movie Genre: Sci-Fi

Fell in love with Star Wars when I was five, and haven't gotten over it since! It made me dream and wonder about space, the vastness of the universe, and exploring other worlds. I mean, really. How much more awesome does it get?

Favorite Music Genre: Rock

Four years ago, when I was in 6th grade, I came across a video on youtube of people skiing. Over the sound of the video was a song called Bring Me to Life by Evanescence, and I just loved it. I've expanded to Red, Within Temptation, Nightwish, Krypteria and Epica ever since then! The above song is one of my favorites :)

Favorite Book Genre: Dystopian/Sci-Fi

The Hunger Games really introduced me to Dystopian. I really love the concept of imperfect worlds opposed to perfect ones. (Although, what world is really perfect?) Of course, Star Wars had already introduced me to Sci-Fi, and I read a lot of Star Wars books.

Guilty Pleasure Genre: Comedy

No comedy movies are coming to mind at the moment, but I like watching shows like Gilligans Island. Mostly because they're not very thought provoking and I can write while I watch. And my brother loves that show, so everyone's happy :)

For those who participated in this month's Knights of MicroFiction, the winners are:

Kathy and I will be contacting the winners as soon as possible! Thanks for participating!

Happy Monday!

Okay, I must admit Gilligan's Island was just too funny to miss. It really made me laugh.

Love your choices.

The Hunger Games trilogy was excellent! I see you play violin and figure skate. Me too! Nice meeting you.

Your guilty pleasure made me laugh!
Star Wars did it for me when I was thirteen. Of course, that was back during the original release...
Thanks for participating in my blogfest!

SciFi is on just about everyone's list. I had to laugh about Gilligan's Island - I'm pretty sure I know all the words to the theme song even after all this time. Maryanne was my favorite:)

did they ever get off the island, really... did you prefer the black and white or color years?

Gilligan's Island? I never expected that one. lol It was so much fun to read about your favorite things. Great blog hop! :-)

From your band listing, I'd say you're not just into rock, you're especially into Symphonic Metal! (And I dearly love Epica, though the other bands are good too).

Gilligan's Island as you guilty pleasure is a hoot. There is an ex-pat here in Manila who closely resembles the Skipper. The hell of it is, he has a young "thang" on his arm 30 years his junior and she'd make the lovely Ginger or Mary Ann look 2nd rate. lol

I enjoy Dystopians, too. Can't get enough of them.

I love Evanescence! Great band. Great genres, too, although I must say I think I saw that coming ;)

Promise I'm in on the next KOMF, too! I have sat it out too long!

Are you doing NaNo this year?

Hey, Jess,
Long time. I've come across lots of Sci-Fi and Rock fans today. Liked watching Gilligan's island as a kid.

Great to see another early Star Wars convert :) I also love old shows like Gilligan's Island. Some of my other favourites are Dick van Dyke, Hogan's Heroes, I Love Lucy, and Newhart.

We had to choose a character to be from Gilligan's Island, at one work team building day. I chose Gilligan, but changed it to Gilliganetta.

Star Wars is great scifi, I like it better than Star Trek, but I like both.

Star Wars is the best. It was my first introduction to sci-fi. Watched them again recently and remembered how much I love them. :)

Another dystopia fan! I'm such a sucker for The Hunger Games franchise. And Evanesence is awesome. Amy Lee kicks so much ass. I heard "Bring Me To Life" at a work picnic this past weekend; nearly forgot how great that song is.

I enjoyed this post and I'm glad you decided to participate in Alex's blogfest :)

You make me feel old when you say you were only five when you fell in love with Starwars. Great movie but I was a 'bit' older when I first saw it.

That reminds me that I should look up Gilligan's Island on Netflix and see if it's available. It would be fun to re-watch that! I've been watching Psych while I write, but I watched all the ones Netflix had available. Sadness.
